Reading for Renewal

Reading for RenewalReading for Renewal

Just what is Reading for Renewal (R4R) all about? It is an annual reading program, whereby you read for enjoyment, broaden your knowledge on a particular subject, such as the Middle East, (which is the mission study for the Women’s Fellowship this year), and renew your energy and yourself. The books for 2010/11 have been chosen by women, and some men, from the entire FL UCC Conference. Our own members have been involved in the selection process. People all over the state participate. All of the books are in our Library in FellowshipHall. They are on a shelf to the immediate right as you enter the room. The list, with a brief description of each selection, is on the shelf by the books. There are 15 fiction and 15 nonfiction titles. The Mission Study is five of the nonfiction. There are some duplicates. David McCullough, who was a two timePulitzer author, once noted, “We are what we read.” We have a wonderful library right here in our Fellowship Hall full of many books on many subjects, in addition to the Reading for Renewal collection, plus a fine assortment of children’s books. So please make use of it. If you want to participate in this year’s R4R program, the directions are printed on the front and back covers of the list. Please pick one up and start reading to your heart’s content! Thanks again, Patty Vander Schaaf
